The Chyrelle Addams Cancer Support Trust was chosen as Sainsbury’s new Local Charity partner Bishop Auckland for 2012/2013.

The announcement comes after the store asked Bishop Auckland customers which local charity they should provide a year’s support to. Customers were able to vote for their favourite local charity between 9th and 23rd May.

The store launched the partnership by holding a Charity bag pack on the weekend of 14th and 15th July 2012.

“A local charity is set to benefit from a year’s fundraising thanks to Sainsbury’s Bishop Auckland customers and colleagues…”

The partnership officially launched in June and customers can now choose to make a donation to The Chyrelle Addams Cancer Support Trust in-store at Sainsbury's, Bishop Auckland, situated in St Helen Auckland. The charity was founded in 2007 and helps anyone affected by cancer.

Over the next 12 months, the charity will benefit from Sainsbury’s Local Charity partner scheme, now in it’s fourth year.

Last year, the initiative supported over 1000 charities and organisations across the UK through fundraising and volunteering and gave more than £1.5 million of support to local communities. Sainsbury’s Bishop Auckland Local Charity partner last year was Butterwick Hospice Care and thanks to customers and colleagues, they raised £5,203.18 for the charity.

During the next 12 months, colleagues will be providing fundraising support for The Chyrelle Addams Cancer Support Trust and raising awareness of the charity with the local community. Sainsbury’s Bishop Auckland Deputy Store Manager, Mark Watson said: “Chyrelle Addams Cancer Support Trust is such a worthy local cause and we’re pleased and proud to be supporting it over the next 12 months. We’ll be letting our customers know of our fundraising plans in-store and we hope they can join our colleagues in helping support them”.

Trish Greensmith of The Chyrelle Addams Cancer Support Trust said: “I’d like to thank everyone at Sainsbury’s Bishop Auckland who have nominated us to be the store’s new Local Charity partner. I hope this partnership will raise awareness to local residents about the work we do and the impact it has in the community. We now look forward to a successful year working with the store’s colleagues on this exciting initiative…

We are so grateful to have been picked by Sainsbury’s as their chosen charity for 2012/2013 and very much look forward to working with all the staff at the Bishop Auckland store.

They have started us off by setting up the Fire Safety Day and providing the refreshments to sell and by donating some Kermit the frog backpacks to help with our fund raising.

Road Safety Day At Bishop Auckland Fire Station

The Chyrelle Addams Cancer Support Trust was invited along to sell refreshments for the lovely ladies and gents of the fire service.

We made £212.00 and shared this with the fire service, a very nice £106.00 each.

This was set up by Sainsbury’s the first event in what is hopefully going to be a very successful sponsorship over the coming year.
